Campaign Story

My name is Lauren Montgomery and my husband Trent and I have been married for 5 years, together 12. After we got married in 2018, we decided to stop all contraceptives and leave starting a family in God’s hands. I started having some pain in my lower abdomen and shortly discovered I had multiple cysts on my right ovary. My doctor diagnosed me with PCOS. Eventually, one became too large and painful and we decided to remove it. This was in 2020….

We continued to monitor my ovaries for cysts every 4-6 weeks out of precaution. Along the way, I was becoming frustrated that I was not getting pregnant. My labs, hormones, etc were all normal. In 2021, my doctor finally sent me to an infertility doctor close to our area. We started discussions and tests to figure out what my “problem” was and for those that do not know, it becomes very expensive and we decided to post pone treatments. Fast forwarding to 2023, I was sent to a different fertility doctor and this is when our world was turned upside down.

Without going into a long story, my current fertility doctor told me my problem. My previous doctor that removed my ovarian cysts in 2020 also removed my fallopian tube — and I didn’t know for 3.5 years.

We moved forward with IUI in hopes that we could still conceive with my other fallopian tube. This morning I found out my second IUI was unsuccessful due to the fact that I do not ovulate on the side with the good tube. We have been advised that IVF is our only option and unfortunately, our insurance does not cover any of it.

We want so badly to be parents, we know we will be great parents. While it has been a journey to find out “the why”, we are at peace now knowing. But unfortunately, we cannot do it on our own and that is why I am starting this campaign. Growing up, I never thought I would be in this position. I had this idea of growing up, falling in love, getting married and having a baby… you never think it is going to be this hard. But, we are here and we are grateful for our family and any prayers or donations we are given.
