My name is Katherine I was recently diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome also known as PCOS. It’s a hormonal disorder causing enlarged ovaries with small cysts on the outer edges. The cause of polycystic ovary syndrome isn’t well understood, but may involve a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Some of the symptoms include menstrual irregularity, excess hair growth, acne, and obesity. I’ve been trying for 5 years and sadly to no avail I’ve been unable to conceive. I’ve tried birth control to help regulate menstrual cycles, as well as prenatal vitamins as directed by my doctors but nothing helped. Having PCOS already affects a persons weight and no matter how much you exercise it’s extremely difficult to lose any weight. Birth control only added to my current weight problem. All I’ve ever dreamed about was being able to be a mom and show my child the love and support I received. When my mom died 3 years ago my world was flipped upside down I spiraled horribly and I felt like I’d lost myself. I was angry I felt deprived. For the life of me I couldn’t understand why I was undeserving of my only parent seeing me have kids or walk down the aisle. I felt robbed. I took time to get over the anger and betrayal I felt and now I want to continue to pursue something I not only want but desperately need. The road has been long and the financial side or pursuing IVF is extremely expensive and the help would be greatly appreciated.
