Campaign Story

My name is Rachel Bittner and I am trying to raise money to help with our ivf journey. Two and half years ago my husband and I started planning to start our family. We tried naturally and found that was not being successful. Our first round tests showed that though my thyroid was low they didn’t see any reason I shouldn’t get pregnant. My husband however went to a doctor who said he could do nothing for him and that his mortality rate was low. I became depressed, I am special education teacher and that was affecting my work, social life and relationship. We started to go to therapy and realized we both blamed ourselves. We started to come to terms that we will need more help but we were determined. We tried 4 cycles with medication for both myself and him. With no success we moved to a IUI with a fertility clinic. After my first failed the doctor said it was from endometriosis and that I needed surgery to fix and that after he saw no issues. Our second failed, our third one failed because a cyst they missed was too big. When we went to do the third they said the cyst was still there.
We decided to get a second opinion and found that ivf is out best option. They have told us that all my shg, HSG and blood work looked good and with my husbands counts we are good candidates for ivf. Our insurance however will only do a life time maximum of 10,000 and since I had surgery and a few procedures done we met the out of pocket and will meet the 10,000 quickly and than left with 100% on us. Between the medication and the rest of the IVF we will be looking at 15,000 dollars. I am a special education teacher on an emergency license going to school to get my license and my husband is an engineer for soils. We try our hardest to save but our car just broke down as well. We are hoping with the blessings of others we can continue to work towards starting our family
