Campaign Story
Brian and I began our fertility journey in 2019, although it really starts in 2016 when I got injured while travel nursing. We were at the prime age to start a family… well maybe slightly past our prime, but still in a good age range. My injury put me in intense, high levels of pain to the point where we put off having children because I didn’t think I would be physically capable of caring for a child. Fast forward to August of 2020 where I finally had a very complex surgery that involves removing my first rib, scalene muscle and pec minor muscle. Recovery was very painful but I gained some of my life back and with that, came the wish time start a family. We began trying naturally but after a year we realized it wasn’t happening. We sought help with a fertility clinic and that is when I learned that I have endometriosis. After several failed IUI cycles, we have moved on to IVF but we do not have insurance to cover the procedures or the very costly medications involved. We scraped up the money for one cycle and it was canceled by our Dr. due to “abnormal response” halfway though. Apparently IVF is a science, but also an art and there is no way to know how our bodies will react to certain meds. The cancelation caused us to loose a good chunk of our money that we had saved up for IVF leaving us wondering if we will ever realize our dream of becoming parents.
