Campaign Story

Thank you so much for donating and stopping by our fundraiser page. Our names are Cheston & Sara Welborn and we want to share with you a little about us and our journey with fertility.
My name is Sara, like most girls growing up I would dream of my wedding day, but I had a dream bigger than my wedding day and it was to be a mom. I grew up with two amazing parents and a little sister. I want to one day be able to give the same love myself and my sister were and still are given by our parents. I knew the day I saw Cheston, after reconnecting, that this was the person I wanted to create a family with, so we could give that love to a child of our own.
My name is Cheston, growing up as the youngest of four kids showed me the value of family from a unique perspective. I was the baby and everyone knew it. But being as such, I was shrouded in love and protection beyond measure. Growing up with an amazing family is one of the greatest blessings God gives us. And in that regard, I am nothing short of blessed. So, when I “met” Sara again in 2018 and saw just how close her family was and how much she valued family, I knew right then she was more than just the firecracker I had a crush on in high school. She had all of the characteristics and values a man could ask for in a life companion, and I was smitten. A lot has happened since then, and I mean A LOT. As we’ve married and grown our desire to start a family of our own, to pass down those characteristics and values to, has only grown. We are now at a precipice, with our only option being IVF.
We met in High School; Cheston remembers what I was wearing when he first saw me. I was a freshman and he was a junior and we had a math class together. We dated for about a month, high school happened (haha) and life took us separate directions from each other! However, we both still would keep up with each other on social media, watching each other’s lives in photos but never saying anything. One day, unfortunately, due to the death of one of my good friends, he messaged me about him and we haven’t separated since then.
In August 2020, Cheston had to have a rarely performed open heart surgery due to a condition he was born with. He now has a clear bill of health and is doing great. Because of his surgery and all the ups and downs life can throw at you, we realized even more that life is too short, we aren’t promised tomorrow and we really want to start a family. On October 2, 2021, 23 years after first meeting, life happening and bringing us back together, we got married!
That brings us to our journey with fertility. My history, I have a diagnosis of Didelphys Uterus (2 uterus’ and 2 cervix’s), which comes with it’s own set of issues, both good and bad. I have also had 3 unsuccessful pregnancies in the past. I have had multiple tests performed, as most do regarding fertility, all of which have come back normal. Cheston’s history, he had to have an unexpected surgery when he was around age 14, due to a Hydrocele, unknowingly at the time, the surgery can cause, does cause and is causing fertility issues.
In July 2020, we decided that my clock was ticking away (I’m 38 and he is 40 years old, now), we aren’t getting any younger and we both want nothing more than to start a family. So, we started trying and I had my iud’s removed that same month. Since then, we have seen 2 OB/GYN doctors, a Urologist and the latest is the fertility doctor. During our appointment with the fertility doctor we were informed that IVF is our only option because of the level of infertility caused by his Hydrocele surgery.
“The greatest love of all is that of a child”, our greatest wish and dream is to have that love with a child of our own. We firmly understand that if it is part of God’s plan for us to start a family, then it will be. We are asking you to help us with this IVF journey we are taking by donating to our fundraiser. We would be blessed, honored and eternally grateful to and for you if you can help. Thoughts, Prayers and good vibes are always appreciated too. Thank you so very much to taking the time to read our story!
Thank you,

    Update 5/2024

Thank you everyone who has donated, all the prayers and continued prayers and support through this process. We are still trying to raise/save money and have even spoken with some about possible studies. Unfortunately due to my Didelphys Uterus we don’t qualify for studies. So our only option is to continue to try to raise/save money and apply for grants, unless a study becomes available. We did apply for a grant locally, but we were not selected. However, we still remain hopeful. I just turned 40 and I know my time is way more limited than my husbands at this point and it breaks my heart because, like most everyone, we want to be able to start a family of our own.
Continued thoughts, prayers and donations are greatly appreciated.
