Hi, we are John and Kim Bailey! We have been married for almost five years and have been trying for a baby for four of those. We have had seven miscarriages, the last three being ectopic pregnancies. The last two of the ectopic pregnancies both ended in emergency surgery, one rupturing which became life threatening. The end result was losing both Fallopian tubes and becoming 100% infertile. We took a year to regroup after all the loss and finally decided to begin the only option left for us to have a baby together – IVF.

We flew through the prescreenings with flying colors but time is not on our side. Everything was planned and ready to go until last night when it all came to a screeching halt. Our Financial Coordinator called and said that our estimate we originally received wasn’t even close to what one cycle would cost. We were told that military families with TriCare typically pay around $8k for IVF. That’s a lot for our family but we were committed to figuring it out and did. Last night we were told that we should expect to pay in the range of $20,000 now. That was devastating news because there is no way we can afford that.
We sat and tried to figure out any angle we could to make this work financially and we just can’t. I checked into grants which either we don’t qualify for or missed the window already for application submission. But then I found the Gift of Parenthood website. So here we are…seeing if we can make something happen.
