Campaign Story

I often tell Dylan that we are two of the luckiest people on the planet, because we’ve established a companionate love that has grown over 15 years. Soon we will have spent more of our lives together than not. And we don’t take that for granted.

In July Dylan and I will have spent the last four years working with fertility specialists to grow our family. We have been lucky to receive IVF care at the University of Michigan over the last three years. I was diagnosed with PCOS prior to starting fertility treatments, and after 3 losses, discovered and underwent surgery for endometriosis in February. Unfortunately, our most recent embryo transfer still failed and we’ve met our lifetime insurance coverage for fertility treatments.

We still have 11 excellent quality embryos, but it is uncommon for someone to transfer 7 embryos and not achieve a live birth. I have an amazing team of doctors behind me and we’re hopeful that the recommended protocol moving forward will be successful, but I’ve also been counseled on the possibility that surrogacy would be the next best option.

When we picture our future, Dylan and I picture a child who grows up seeing affection and friendship as a standard. We see a child who rolls their eyes at how much their parents like being with each other. And we know that that child will feel secure because their family is surrounded by strength, love and support.

So, this Mother’s Day, and for the time leading up to our next transfer, I’m asking for support. It’s been a long time coming. I know our child will be supported and loved when they make their arrival. I’m excited to share with them just how loved and supported they were before then as well.
