Campaign Story

My name is Theresa, and my husband Ying and I have been on a long and difficult journey to become parents. For years, we have dreamed of holding a child in our arms, but our path has been filled with heartbreak and obstacles. After many doctor visits and tests, I was diagnosed with blocked fallopian tubes. This means I cannot conceive naturally, no matter how hard we try. At the same time, my husband’s testing showed very low sperm motility, making natural conception even more impossible for us.

As if that wasn’t enough, my genetic testing revealed issues that mean we must pursue IVF with genetic screening. This is the only way to ensure that we can have a healthy pregnancy and give our future child the best chance at life. Knowing that IVF with ICSI and genetic testing is our only hope has been both a blessing and a heavy burden — because it finally gave us answers, but it also comes with costs that feel far out of reach.

We are a low-income family, and while we are covered by Medicaid, infertility treatments are not included. That means everything — the medications, the procedures, the lab work, the genetic testing — all has to be paid for out of pocket. These costs climb into the tens of thousands of dollars, an amount that is impossible for us to manage alone while also providing for our basic needs like mortgage, utilities, and everyday living expenses.

Starting this fundraiser is not easy for me. Asking for help is humbling, but I am choosing hope over pride. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to the chance of becoming parents. It brings us closer to the day when we can hear our baby’s heartbeat for the first time, hold them close, and finally live the dream we have been fighting for all these years.

We are deeply grateful for any support you can give — whether it is through a donation, sharing our story, or simply keeping us in your prayers. Thank you for helping us keep our dream of parenthood alive.
