Campaign Story

Twenty Years Together. Twelve Years Married. One Dream Still Ahead.

We’re Joshua and Chad — and this year, we’re celebrating 20 years as a couple and our 12th wedding anniversary. Back when we said “I do” in front of a justice of the peace in Markham, Illinois, we didn’t have a big ceremony or a fancy venue. We just had each other, and a quiet certainty that we were building a life together.

Twenty years in, that life is full — full of nieces and nephews we adore, gardens we’ve grown, homes we’ve renovated with our own hands, meals we’ve cooked for the people we love. But there’s one chapter we haven’t written yet: the one where we’re Dad and Dad.

The Journey So Far

This road hasn’t been simple, and we won’t pretend it has been. We started this process years ago, faced real setbacks with a previous agency that let us down, and made the hard call to walk away and start over. In 2024, we sold our home, moved somewhere quieter, and gave ourselves a fresh start — emotionally and financially.

What We’re Asking

If you’ve ever thought about sending a gift our way, we’d be more grateful for a donation to this fund than for anything off a registry.  Or if you are a complete stranger looking to give us a gift we would cherish—It goes directly toward bringing our baby home.

Thank you for two decades of showing up for us — as friends, as family, as the people who’ve watched this love story unfold. We can’t wait to show you the next chapter.

    Almost ready to start

We have been working on our home to get it appraised and get a HELOC to help fund our journey. We are hopeful we will have it ready by the end of June. We have also started appointments with preliminary work before we can have our embryos created. Thank you for helping us on our journey! Love Joshua and Chad Scott

    Contract Signed

We have singed our contract, secured our egg donor and made our first series of payments totaling $35,900. We have updated our goal end date and hope to make this dream a reality! We are thankful for all those who have donated and supported us. Onto the next milestone!

    We have embryos!

Our egg donor was able to produce 5 eggs after a late start to her cycle. Stress and other factors contribute to a low count, we’re thankful for the 5 that were afforded by her. That portion was about $15900 in medical cost and $6500 in donation compensation. Just after the egg donation we went to the clinic (12/28) to give our sample and from that our eggs were all successfully fertilized. After waiting about 6 days, we were told of the 5 fertilized eggs, 2 made it to blastocyst stage and were grade a fair grade of 4CC. The next process is to transfer the embryos to a surrogate and hope they (both 🤞🏽) latch on!

    First FET

It took about a month to be matched with our SM who has the most sincere eyes. We just fell in love with her. We have been waiting for our beta results today, and our medical coordinator just advised that her HCG level of 1.2 is too low to be considered pregnant. While our first FET/frozen embryo transfer didnt latch on as hoped, It’s not the end of the world and we are thankful for the team that we have been given through this process.

    FET #2 & Contract Cancel

Our second embryo transfer, using our last embryo, was unfortunately unsuccessful. To date, we have spent approximately $47,952 with Miracle Surrogacy, a journey marked by several disappointments and misguidance. We were misled about our egg donor profile and true compensation, received no clinical recommendations or guidance, and felt the complete absence of Miracle Surrogacy as a supportive partner throughout the process.

Early on, both Josh and I sensed potential issues when we received initial correspondence about our egg donor. Despite our concerns, we hoped for the best. When it became clear that our donors cycle would not start, Miracle Surrogacy should have recommended another donor, but they did not. Additionally, they were not transparent about the donors profile and age.

Despite these challenges, we tried to make the best of the situation, investing our time, energy, and money in the hope of a positive outcome. The decision to spend any more money with Miracle Surrogacy was gut-wrenching. Therefore, we have decided to cancel our contract with them. It feels liberating to have made this decision, one that, in hindsight, we should have made from the start.

We will keep you updated as we proceed from here.

    Love, Chad & Joshua

    Long Overdue Update

As many of you know, we’ve come a long way.

In May 2024, we made the difficult decision to cancel our journey with Miracle Surrogacy. That moment forced us to completely repivot—emotionally and financially. We had truly given it our all and were unsure of what the future would hold.

Then, in September 2024, my uncle Dan jokingly asked, “When are you two going to sell everything you’ve got and finally give me a great niece or nephew?” Josh and I looked at each other—and in that moment, something shifted. Could we actually do that? Could we take one more big risk, resituate our entire lives, and make this dream happen?

    So… we did.

We sold our home, moved out to a quiet place in the country, and started fresh. It was scary, but also the most grounding decision we’ve made in a long time. And now, we’re excited to say—this is the next chapter.

We’re ready. We have appointments lined up with a couple of new agencies and will keep you updated every step of the way.

Thank you for staying with us through this journey. Your support means more than you’ll ever know.

    Milestone Reached (Nov 3, 2025)

After months of labs, appointments, and a lot of hope, we’ve officially picked our front-runner embryos—one from each of us. For Chad, we’re moving forward with a Day-5 5BB; for Joshua, a Day-5 4BA. In plain English: both are strong day-5 blastocysts with solid scores.

Next up is finalizing logistics with our clinic and lining up the earliest transfer window (we’re aiming for early 2026). Every donation and share keeps us moving: medications, transfer and monitoring costs, legal steps, and international travel are all part of getting us to “hello, baby.”

From the bottom of our hearts—thank you for believing in us and helping make “Dad x2” a reality. 💛
