Campaign Story

My name is Abigale and 2 1/2 years ago, I decided to start the journey of having a baby on my own. I started with IUI and had 2 failed attempts. During this part of my journey, I met a wonderful partner, K. She knew what I was doing and how much it meant to me, and decided to support and be a part of it with me. After the 2nd failure with IUI, I decided because of my age, I should move on to IVF. With the consultation and payment made, I started the grueling process of egg retrieval. Post surgery, I got immediate news that 10 eggs were retrieved. As the days progressed, that number dwindled down to a final 2 survivors. Slightly discouraged, K convinced me 2 was all we needed. So on we went, with our first transfer… and it worked! We had confirmed blood tests and got to see our little one during an early ultrasound, and heard their tiny heartbeat. We scheduled our first prenatal appointment and 9 weeks. We practically skipped into the office, ready to see our baby again. It was then we found out the baby had passed away. During the following weeks, I experienced a very traumatic miscarriage. It was at this point, my doctor suggested additional testing for me, to make sure nothing was causing these continued failures I was seeing (along with previous miscarriages throughout my life). I came back with a clean bill of health, so we moved on with the transfer of my final embryo. We had so much hope and so much positivity… but I walked out of the transfer in tears, because I was given very low odds of success due to poor embryo quality. Today, we found out that the implantation was unsuccessful. So here I am, 2 IUI treatments, one IVF egg retrieval and 2 transfers, with no baby and no more embryos. With this fundraiser, I am hoping for another chance, to try again. To have the baby I’ve always dreamed of; to be the mother I’ve always wanted to be; to watch a little human grow.
