Dear Friends, Family, and Kindhearted Strangers,

We are Brooke and James and it is with a mixture of hope and vulnerability that we reach out to you today, as a couple who dreams of embracing the joy of parenthood.

A few years ago, we experienced our first heartbreak in infertility when we had our first miscarriage. The grief and heartbreak that come with losing the hope of what could have been is a feeling and experience that is indescribable. Then came the beginnings of IVF: the miles driven to the closest fertility clinic, the constant blood draws, ultrasounds, and medications to prepare for our first cycle. But then a miracle happened! We were pregnant with twin girls! However, since you are reading this, you probably understand that those dreams also faded with our second miscarriage. This seemed to be harder than the first time. Nonetheless, we continued with our first IVF cycle with cautious optimism. We went through the traveling back and forth, the blood draws, ultrasounds, medications, and shots in the morning and the evening to finally make it to the egg retrieval and genetic testing. Only, they were not viable–genetically not suited to continue forward. Another heartbreak, another loss of what could have been.

However, we have not given up on our hopes of starting a family–that desire to create a love in life that is the sum of two people dedicated to and in love with each other. To see a part of yourself in life that you created. To see it grow into something more than you could ever hope for, ever imagine. To have that gift of life in our lives. We can’t give up until we are parents to our first child.
