Campaign Story

My name is Carol and I am medically infertile. At the age of 18 we found out we were pregnant and although terrified we were excited about starting our family and spending the rest of our lives together. 2 months after finding out we were pregnant I began to feel severe abdominal pain and was rushed to the emergency room. That is where we found out that it was an ectopic pregnancy and the baby had implanted itself in my fallopian tube and my life was at risk. After undergoing life saving surgery, I found out that I had lost a fallopian tube as a result of the erupted ectopic pregnancy. Years later, as we try and expand our family once more, we suffered through years of trying and consistent negative pregnancy tests. After 5 years of trying, I finally had a positive test and we were ecstatic. However, that happiness was short lived as once again I slowly started to get abdominal pain. After multiple doctor and ER visits we were told I was having a miscarriage and advised to let it happen naturally. The emotional and physical pain of this event has scarred me for life. As days went by, the pain from the miscarriage became so bad I could no longer stand or walk. I was rushed to the emergency room where I was told that I was bleeding internally from an erupted ectopic pregnancy. I once again was rushed into life saving surgery. Upon coming out of the surgery I was told I was now infertile due to no longer having fallopian tube and the only way I could get pregnant would be to do IVF. However, as we all know that does not come at an affordable price. After months of saving and emergencies coming up, we are back where we started. While we can afford to raise a child we can’t afford to make a child. Please help us grow our family.
