Campaign Story

My name is Caitlin and I am 38 years old. My story began in my teens when I was helping to raise a baby born to a drug addicted friend of mine. This baby stole my heart and I would’ve traded the world for him. Unfortunately, when his mother sent him to visit his father, he did not make it home. His life was tragically taken by the new woman in his fathers life. This was devastating to say the least. I gained a great insight into how important and sacred the decision to have a child is. As I have made my way through life, I have earned degrees and started a business. I was in no rush to have a family. In fact, I took the responsibility so seriously that I would not pursue it until I knew the feeling was right. Upon meeting my now husband and his four children, I was introduced to a family that was already made. As I’ve gotten to know and love each one of them, the feeling and desire to have my own child as well has hit me like a ton of bricks. As it turns out, for all these years I have been scared to love a child and then lose them, again. I’m now facing the reality that the window in which I may become a biological mother, in addition to a stepmother, is closing. My four step children have reawakened a part of my heart that I had tried to ignore. They have shown me that it is time now to have a child of my own as well to complete our family.
