Campaign Story

We have prayed 1,651 days…

Most girls dream of becoming a mother, but for me it wasn’t a dream, it was what I felt like I was meant to be. Unfortunately, life threw a curveball that made the reality of parenthood seem like a long journey down a never-ending tunnel. In 2018 I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a condition I never knew existed and had now placed my life in a whole new direction. Staring at that ultrasound and hearing the word “infertility” turned my world upside down.

Knowing that we had a journey ahead of us, in April 2019, we (Amy & Travis) decided to seek assistance in starting our family. We began oral medication (letrozole) to trigger ovulation, but after five months of failed cycles, our doctor decided that a hysterosalpingography (HSG) would need to be performed to view the inside of my uterus and fallopian tubes. My uterus was normal size, perfect shape and there were no blockages or obstructions in my fallopian tubes. This was amazing news as we were able to continue with the medication in hopes of soon having a successful cycle…but, nine months of hopefulness, only brought failure and heartache.

In September of 2020 we were referred to a different fertility specialist and we began the journey of our first intrauterine insemination (IUI). This was suppose to be it, the doctor gave us so much hope with every encouraging word he spoke, we were determined that this was going to be our miracle cycle. November 2020, the IUI was performed, and the dreaded two week wait began; but before our two weeks came to an end we were already faced with failure. We, along with the doctor were at a loss.

Recently my father was diagnosed with macular degeneration, and although he is taking treatments to slow down the progression, he will eventually go blind. This has made our determination to have our family stronger, as my husband and I want to ensure my father gets to see me become a mother.

We have put much thought into our future within our trying to conceive (TTC) journey and have determined that we want to move forward with in vitro fertilization (IVF). Unfortunately, our insurance covers zero cost of anything fertility related and we know that this is a big ask, but every small amount could help, and we both appreciate you taking the time to read out story. We love and appreciate you all.
