Campaign Story

Dear Family and Friends,

Ever since Brandon and I started dating, we knew that infertility was going to be a journey we would have to walk. After a failed vasectomy reversal in September 2020 and a second failed vasectomy reversal in September 2021, we began the journey towards IVF.

We were blessed to receive provincial funding to help pay for our first round of IVF. The provincial funding covered the egg retrieval, ICSI, and the embryo transfers. The funding did not cover the sperm extraction (TESE), fertility medications, or sperm and embryo freezing/storage fees. We were able to cover some of the costs of medication through extended health care benefits. Even with all of the funding and coverage we had, our out of pocket expenses were close to $15,000.

Unfortunately, our first round of IVF has not yet been successful. We are currently waiting on the results of an endometrial biopsy to determine if my endometrial lining is receptive and if there are any infections that could be preventing pregnancy.

Our first round of IVF gave us 5 embryos. We could not afford to have them genetically tested, so we don’t have confirmation if they were/are considered “normal” in regards to their chromosomes. Our second transfer failed to implant, and our first, third, and fourth transfers ended in early miscarriages.

With one, poorly graded embryo left, we are faced with the realization that our journey is leading us into a second round of IVF.

A new round of IVF would see us switching to a new fertility clinic, one that is experienced with repeated pregnancy losses and repeated implantation failure.

We have now decided to continue on the IVF journey with the incredible support of our medical team, family, friends and God.

Dealing with infertility has been emotionally and physically draining and a second round of IVF is going to be a huge financial challenge for us as our current extended health care does not cover any infertility procedures. Brandon and I would humbly like to ask for your support in funding our IVF procedure so that we may try to grow our family. Any funds collected here will go towards the cost of medication required for ovarian stimulation, sperm extraction, egg retrieval surgery, genetic testing, and embryo transfer.

For full transparency, the first half of our IVF cost breakdown is below:
* Egg Retrieval, bloodwork, ultrasounds, ICSI, Nursing and Physician Fees, Sperm Wash, Anesthesia, Embryo Freezing, 1 year Embryo Storage: $11,600.00
* Sperm Extraction: $2,700.00
* Sperm Freezing / Storage: $600.00
* PGT Fee (Genetic Testing): $1,000 Base Fee + $650 / Embryo
*Medication: $8,000.00 (based on our previous IVF cycle)

It would mean the world to us to have anyone’s help to reach our goal and make our dreams come true of finally being parents to our miracle baby.

With Love,
Jennifer and Brandon
