Hello! My name is Sam. My husband Joe and I have been married since September 2021. We started trying to have a family right away once we married. After about 6 months of trying with no success, I visited my physician to make sure that everything was okay. After that visit and some reproductive testing, it was determined I was dealing with PCOS and an-ovulation. Due to my PCOS diagnosis, my physician started me on ovulation-induction therapies. These induction therapies alone did not work. We then escalated the treatment to ovulation induction medications, injections and intrauterine insemination. Our first and second IUI’s were unsuccessful. Our third IUI, completed on November 7, 2022, was indeed successful. We were over-the-moon excited that we finally were seeing a light at the end of the long tunnel that is infertility. Unfortunately, this was short-lived as our pregnancy ended in a miscarriage the day before Thanksgiving. After the loss of our baby, it was decided between our medical team and us that our next steps were IVF. With the help of our families, we were able to complete our first full round of IVF. We retrieved in June 2023 and had our first transfer on August 1, 2023. Five days later we would learn that it was successful. It worked! We were pregnant! We had never felt a joy so strong. We had our first ultrasound at 5 weeks and 6 days pregnant. Baby was measuring right on time! We had our second ultrasound at 7 weeks and 6 days. Baby was strong and their little heart was beating away! Our third and what would be our final ultrasound with our fertility clinic was at 9 weeks and 6 days. Ready to see our little one growing, we arrived excited to be saying goodbye to our clinic! Unfortunately, that wouldn’t be the case. We learned that our little one gained their wings and their heart stopped beating. We were crushed. We were just 8 days away from finding out if we were having a baby boy or girl. After experiencing our second miscarriage and meeting with our medical team, we have decided we would like to move forward with another transfer. However, with the joy of our pregnancy, we did not plan financially to have to complete another transfer; at least for a while. We have exhausted our savings and have received more favors than we could ask for from our family. We are hoping through generous efforts and donations, that we are able to raise the funds to complete our second, and hopefully last transfer.
