Grant Application Frequently Asked Questions

Gift of Parenthood is a charitable grant program dedicated to helping couples and individuals struggling with infertility. The program aims at helping families conceive through advanced fertility treatments such as IUI, IVF, egg donation, embryo donation, and gestational surrogacy.

Our goal is to disburse grants four times a year, based upon availability of funds. We do NOT distribute grants at any other time during the year other than immediately after the grant deadlines. Check current grant deadline

Yes, the Gift of Parenthood will consider all who apply. We strive to be diverse in regards to ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, relationship status, medical history and geography.

We hope to award grants within four weeks after the application deadlines. If, at any time, you have questions about the status of your application, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The number and amount of each grant will vary based upon availability of funds. The grants will be awarded approximately four weeks after the application deadline. We notify applicants via email and by phone.

The grant can be used to cover any expenses associated with assisted reproduction such as IUI, IVF, egg and sperm donation, egg freezing, and surrogacy. Applicants who have medical insurance coverage for the various fertility treatments or medicines will be required to submit all medical claims to their provider first.

The Gift of Parenthood is a non-profit organization comprised of passion-driven individuals who in most cases volunteer their time to raise awareness and organize fundraisers to keep our mission alive. The application fee covers administrative fees associated with those fundraising and operational expenses, including publishing the grant funding periods and reviewing the submissions.

Payment for the fertility medication may be included in the grant only if the applicant’s insurance provider does not cover this cost. Payment is made directly to the pharmacy.

Once approved for a grant, you must use the grant funds within 4 months of award.  If you do not use the funds within that time and do not have any extenuating circumstances, the grant will be withdrawn.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Female applicants for IVF grant cycles should be under 50 years old. However, we assess each case on an individual basis and take into account the recommendation of the physician. For those using donor eggs, age limit does not apply.

The cost of any infertility treatment such as IVF can vary depending on your circumstances and the clinic’s rate. However, in general, IVF costs can range from $8,000 to $15,000+ per cycle, plus the cost of medication.

In general, the cost for IUI (artificial insemination) and Clomid services can range from approximately $500 to $3,500. However, the need for repeat procedures can escalate the cost and in some cases double or triple it. Egg donation starts at approximately $10,000, but will depend on the clinic. Surrogacy fees can be as high as $100,000 when taking in the account the agency fee, lawyers’ fees, and medical costs.

The grant recipients will be chosen by a committee composed of fertility specialists, financial advisers, surrogacy attorneys, clinical psychologists, and others who have personally dealt with infertility.

Gift of Parenthood receives many applications each cycle. Because we are limited by the amount of funds that are donated, we can not fund all those who apply in a given cycle. However, applicants may re-apply during subsequent grant cycles. A $60 application fee is required with each submission. Because medical circumstances can change monthly, applicants must submit a new form for each round of consideration.
