Generally, no. If you donate to a fundraiser for a specific individual, the IRS deems that to be a gift and not a donation. Â
However, there is an exception. If you donate to a fundraiser in which the recipient is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, as is the case with all fundraisers benefiting the Gift of Parenthood Organization and it’s grant recipients, IRS deems that contribution to be a charitable donation. You may claim a deduction on your personal income tax return if you choose to itemize your exemptions. To claim a deduction, you need to keep a copy of your transaction receipt. You will receive a donation receipt via email upon checkout.
