Infertility Success Stories: Katia & Luis Welcome Baby Jemma

Four times per year, the Gift of Parenthood organization and its partners provide fertility grants to carefully selected hopeful parents across the US. The chosen applicants then receive financial assistance towards their fertility treatments of choice. In 2019, The Gift of Parenthood announced the recipients of the ‘2019 Christmas Gift of a Lifetime Grant’ naming Katia and Luis of Miami, FL, among two other lucky couples, the winners. Katia and Luis met through a dating app in 2014 and, despite their disheartening history of fertility struggles, have been an inspiring example of support for each other.

"We are over the moon! Still can't believe it! It's been a wild ride, but it's been the best thing we've ever done."

Welcome Baby Jemma

After meeting online and getting married in 2008, Katia and Luis were excited to start a family of their own. However, after many attempts at conceiving the natural way, they realized they were part of the one in eight couples that struggle with infertility. Despite their circumstances, they remained strong and supported each other through all of the ups and downs. In 2019, they decided to apply for the ‘2019 Christmas Gift of a Lifetime Grant’ and were carefully chosen as recipients by the Board Of Directors at The Gift Of Parenthood Organization. The married couple received fertility treatments using their grant funds and welcomed their daughter Jemma Victoria into the world.

In Katia’s own words, “We are over the moon! Still can’t believe it! It’s been a wild ride, but it’s been the best thing we’ve ever done. Can’t thank you guys enough for the financial help. Taking that burden off made it much easier. We are eternally grateful.”

This is the second infertility success story from Gift of Parenthood recipients that we have shared this year. Recently, we profiled Denise and Troy’s path to parenthood which you can read here. If you need even more hopeful stories, keep reading for some mamas that have inspired us this year.

“Motherhood after infertility is . . .

👉🏽 Living in every moment.

👉🏽 Knowing how intentional your child was made + how much they are wanted.

👉🏽 Realizing that the gift of a child is far better than your expectations.

👉🏽 Enjoying the chaos that comes but for only a small season of life.

👉🏽 Being truly present, not just physically present, because the one you’ve waited for is finally here.

Motherhood after infertility is TOUGH, but so are you. You are not alone!”

We love how @stephaneeneee talks about the reality of motherhood after infertility and the unique emotions that come with it.

“I’m so grateful to have had the support, love, resilience, strength, faith, and hope to keep going.⁣

⁣Samantha has been a constant light the last almost 8 weeks in mine and Sean’s life, but she’s touched so many lives in such a short period of time👣

She came at the exact right time and she is such a healing light worker💫

She was worth every damn shot! 💉

Our miracle rainbow baby🌈 👶

“I want to share about our journey with infertility, IUI, IVF, miscarriage and of course our rainbow babe (that we are currently 18 weeks pregnant with💖🙏🏼🌈) but first I want this post to be for the women may be struggling to see my posts. I just want you to know I see you and I feel you because I’ve been you.”

@withlovenlace Getting pregnant after struggling with infertility means being aware of all the people that wish they were in your shoes because you were once feeling the way that they are now. Much love to @withlovenlace on her bundle of joy.
